Silver Spoon is a Japanese Manga written by Hiromu Arakawa who wrote Fullmetal Alchemist, one of my favorited manga.
Silver Spoon is a story of Yugo Hachiken, a normal boy from Sapporo who escapes his insane study life/family by attend Oezo Agricultural High School. In this school, he feels strange since the first day because all classmates are come from farmer family and he does not has any agricultural knowledge at all.
This a well written “coming of age” story that not contain any climax scene but very fun and unputdownable. The story is focusing on what real high school students are actually think like: dream, love, what to do next?, what they want to be? and of couse, study. The story also describes a Japanese farmer life and Japanese agricultural industry in deep detail but easy to understand which make me compare with my country.
Do not let the humor in the story lie you. Like Fullmetal Alchemist, it not that easy. It makes you re-think about a normal mindset like feeding animals to eat them, kill animals that not match a quality, etc. It also makes you re-think about farmer life which city guy like me do not even think about it.
Conclusion, I recommend this manga ^^.
